BILL MCMILLAN-THE CONTEMPLATIVE STEELHEAD FLY FISHER-by Art Lingren
Washington states Bill McMillan has influence and is held dearly in the hearts of many Pacific Northwest fly fishers. He started writing for Salmon Trout Steelheader magazine in the 1960's in his early twenties.
Bill kept copious notes on his observations on the elements-light conditions, water flows, height, colour, temperature, how many fish rose to a fly if fished on or near the surface, whether he has greased line fishing, natural drift floater, waking or skating a fly or had takes when fishing deeper. He has filled many of his hand made journals and estimates that he has about 10,000 pages of notes documenting his fishing and conservation observations and findings.
