Facing new challenges and improving my rods is part of the fun of rod building. Clay spends an average of 40 hours building a single-handed rod and 60 hours for a double-handed rod. Over the years Bob has built the bamboo rod building business up to a point where he retired from guiding and built rods full time, except for taking a break during steelhead season to seek steelhead on the fly-the passion that brought him to British Columbia in the first place.  His wife Kathy then puts the finishing touches on the rods.
